At The Drive-In

At The Drive-In

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

At The Drive-In

what happened, to those

days of old, where once

the weekends were spent

with good friends, right there,

and plated in our seats,

sitting firmly, behind the wheel...

we'd be gazing out into the night,

at that huge screen of offerings

Oh yea, the drive-in, today we have to beware of drive-bys. I could picture sitting, even though you didn't mention I can taste the bon-bons and buttery popcorn.

Plated in our seats...sweet and excellent again! Is the word, stanza structure a game or device you were playing with? Good reminiscing. The huge screen of offerings points to the universe as a "townie" drive-in. I love it!

It is one of those things I still want to visit.

good form, choice of words, and flow.

This is a good piece.

What happened to those days indeed. I haven't seen a drive in in ages. They were such fun to go to.
Thank you for bringing that memory to mind. The good ole days.

You bring such wonderful memories back James. I love reading your work and then talking about the memories you bring back. Thank you.

A great poem and a wonderful reminder about those good times. I remember my parents taking us in the station wagon and backing into the parking spot so we had a great view. Thank you for reminding me of those special times. Nice poem as always!!
