Spectator

Spectator

A Poem by James K. Blaylock

Spectator

watching you with

your powerful wings;

makes this one

so very jealous...

for I'm merely,

another featherless spectator

Hey,
I was that taken by your thought provoking bet piece that I've come to take a look at this and I'm not disappointed!
Wow - going to check some more of your stuff!
How many of us think like this? To be able to express something as concisely... makes this one...
cheers

Hm. This one I can't quite put my finger on. I actually love it, but Idk exactly what it's about. I think I should read other reviews and see if I can't get a hint. lol.
Well, seems too ambiguous for everyone else, too. :P That's NOT a bad thing. I love this piece, as usual.

This is open to interpretation
but says to me as if someone's leaving home town
for the first time-set to explore while perhaps a freind stays behind
and mourns the leaving
A nice touching portrait
of live and let live

I see someone else has jealousy of the one that is being watched. Envy, the root of all evil.

Nice short descriptive poem with a deep meaning!

There's many ways of reading into this, whether watching those who always seem about to take off into future worlds whilst you are left behind as a spectator - or more mundane - seeing those companions that you long to seek who just seem so far out of reach, how jealous you become as they fall into the arms of a better person than you.

Great work. Makes you think.

I think, if we are honest, there have been moments in our lives when we have all felt this way. Aristotle defined envy as, 'the pain caused by the good fortune of others'! It all depends on who's measuring stick we set the standards with.

Great little poetic message, which stimulates thoughts, on much larger moral issues.

You know? As a child, I spent countless hours wishing I had feathers and was able to fly with the birds! You've said much more in six lines than some have said in a whole novel.

Once again my friend you have written this compelling reflection with impressive expression as you speak through your minds eye. Always a major fan of your work! ~ Judi xo :-)
