Blades of Glory

A Story by James K. Blaylock

Blades of Glory

I thought "I wonder if this movie will indeed be as good as I had heard that it was" as I sat down. More often then naught, I think it really boils down to what the viewers likes and dislikes are.
I myself am already such a huge fan of both of the stars (Will Ferrell and Jon Heder) in this wacky comedy: Blades of Glory.

Not straying too far away from the formula that has made them both so famous... with works such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Elf and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby... Will Ferrell has made himself into a household name. While Jon Heder is following in those same footsteps with his hit cult favorite Napoleon Dynamite; as well as a number of other comdies Just Like Heaven, Benchwarmers and School for Scoundrels. Both men are riding that wonderful wave of fame.

The movie Blades of Glory starts out like most comdies do, funny one mintue then corny the next... but this one had me laughing so oftenly. Ferrell plays the cocky-sex-addict-skater Chazz Michael Michaels and Heder plays the nice-guy-skater-adoptee Jimmy MacElroy. Both men are each others rival; and when they tie in the 2002 Olympics all hell breaks loose... and they are both banned forever from the sport. That is until there is a loophole found that will allow both men to lace-up their egos again on the ice. They have to skate together as partners now, which offer a lot of laughs, as these two work out their differences.

It had its look into the dark side of fame and ice skating... and dazzled us with Hollywood magic. Not that bad of a movie if you're just looking to kill a rainy or lazy day with a lot of laughs.

james. wow, this really through me to a whimpsical place of analysis that is spot on, i like will farrell as well as most americans should, whats great about this writing is that it expalins to those who have never seen the movies as described in your review and put them into a reasonable enjoyable scale of conclusion, and thats great because i personally think you captured the meaning of this writing perfectly, a descriptive, subtle breakdown of movies that would be good for a lazy delight into relaxation and entertainment, which really are the best, mike
