For you my son

Things most mothers want to say but just can't seem to find the right words

You slipped into my life, like a shadow in a dream

A whisper from the distance and I knew you were coming

Like thunder roaring throughout the mountains

Shaking the very foundation of my soul

You exploded into my world and made it yours

I give to you, all that I was, all that I am, and all that I am to be

 

If it can ease life’s pains, I’ll give you my essence in hopes

That it will strengthen your resolve.

When life seems too hard, or not fair, I’ll be there.

When you need a pat on the back or a kick in the rear, I’ll be there.

When you need freedom and space, however reluctant, I’ll give you that as well.

 

Just know this:

You are always home when you are with me.

You are adored and loved.

When we’re apart the pain of missing you is agonizing but,

I see your smile in a photo, I hear your laughter in my mind,

and the pain subsides and abates……Until I miss you again
