Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by Hendro Smit
"

Deep Down we are all monsters.

"
Deep Down.
Deep Down we are all monsters.

We hide our thoughts from peering eyes
Hiding behind masks and tears and lies.

Some fight the monsters but Deep Down
They end up just as rotten.
Rejecting what they are.
Wishing it could be forgotten.

Ghosts and gouls and creatures of the night
They pale in comparision to human nature.
We kill. We steal. We fight.
And somehow we justify it by our scripture.

You see Monsters do not fear the darkness.
We fear the bright.
Being ripped from our perfect disguise
And set alight.

What we find is that we are all alike.

Monsters.

Monsters.

This is just an idea that was on my mind, hardly a masterpiece but it's something to think about
