What Kind of Poem?

If it’s a poem you want,

I won’t complain or gripe.

What kind do you desire?

There are so many types.

 

Poetry is your heart,

Laid out on a page.

Even a fool can do it,

No need to be a sage.

 

Poetry is a longing

About some fair boy or girl.

Showing one’s desire,

As the canvas of heart unfurls.

 

Poetry is a skit,

Just a little ditty

Designed to make one laugh

Ironic and quite witty.

 

Poetry is an expression,

Of how you feel inside;

An outlet for emotions,

That you sometimes have to hide.

 

Poetry is an acceptance

No need to be deterred

Because no matter your message

A poem lets you be heard.

 

You wanted a poem,

I’ve given you what you asked.

And with this final line,

I complete my task.
