Hollow Echo

My first poem in a while.

Here I am

I call out to you

My outline wavers

I’m shrouded

In my black cloak of mystery

When I speak it is but a whisper

The crying of a soul in agony

Reduced to an ugly resonance

Be quiet so you can hear me

I hold the key to victory

And I am the seal of defeat

I exist deep within you

But I am broken

Just a shadow of what I used to be

Like the hollow echo of a misplayed note

Bouncing around

Uncapturable

Unnoticed

Holding on to existence just a little bit longer

With no one to believe in me

I am the boy with a wavering outline

The one who is with you even after he is broken

Slowly dying off due to the fear

Regret

They stab me like dark swords

And let their disease run through me

But I don’t die

I know you need me

I am your confidence

But now I am broken
