Robert “Bobby Bingo” Casanova and Francis “Frenchie” Costello are granted permission to appear in this book in deference to the wishes of St. Simon of Ruins Hill and the heavily footnoted demands of an aging rabbinical scholar, researching the deaths of Garden butterfly, Myrina Gabrielle and her lover, Andre De Foi, central characters in "The Bee & the Butterfly.”

It is especially hoped that Mr. Casanova will honor this privilege and gain needed personal insight as he prepares for an eternal state of nothingness or the continuation of his residency in hell. He is granted additional space for his statement because of his extraordinarily well-exercised gift for gab and given the special relationship he enjoys with Beelzebub (the devil) and popular Netherworld celebrity, Enrico “Danny Dolo” Dandolo.

Invocation of the Paraclete

Affirmation of Divine Inspiration

-

Come, Paracletus, thou glistered grace of sudden wonder,

Who to anointed eyes, shows like the spangled nebula,

Rising from the upturned palm of a blind musician!

Come, thou most sacred, silvered dust

From which all things are made to shine

In the strings of stars and future eons "

Make me now, thy scribe, thy lyre![1]

Oh, thou awful tingling of the skelp,

Thou prodigious shiver of discovery

That bows each head before Thee

And lifts a mind unto the heavens,

Move in me what

Only Thou canst move!

Blaze down on me in truth,

Both beautiful and deadly "

The bread of life renewing,

And the necessary death blow!

[1] According to Mirriam-Webster, paracletus means “advocate” or “helper.” In Christianity, the term “paraclete” most commonly refers to the Holy Spirit. Paris equated a desire to please God with divine inspiration, and thus, his invocation of God’s spirit is made fearfully and with “great expectations.” In this poem, Paris ties Lord Tennyson’s concept of the “sacred dust” (what a loved one is made of and returns to) to what may be an infinite number of stars within an expanding and eternal universe. In the 1920s, the astronomer Edwin Hubble proved that Andromeda was not a nebula within the boundaries of the Milky Way, but a gigantic galaxy, with as many as one trillion stars. It is approximately 2.6 million light years away from earth. In others words, we see it as it was 2.6 million years ago.
