Daisies

Daisies

A Poem by Paris Hlad

Daisies

(Lambs of When & Where)

Daisies love without reservation,

As the possibility of their being loved

Is more important to them than anything,

Including the well-being of those they love.

They are the purest of all heavenly creations,

The ones whose unfeigned trust in others

Makes life seem purposeful and good.

But daisies are existential lambs

Who do not recognize what is

Truly dangerous when it is

Plainly before them.

-II-

And daisies bend unto a touch

In warmth and tender grace

And do not see

A spider’s mark

Upon a spider’s face

For daisies are love’s innocence,

The lambs of when and where,

And they will bend

Without a thought

Of doing what men dare.
