The Fragile Buds

The Fragile Buds

A Poem by Paris Hlad

The Fragile Buds

That Place You Made

Perfect by Your Being

-P-

Then I shall wait upon

Your coming to the flowers,

And greet your passing

In their fragrant breath,

Recalling then that promise made

Among the fragile buds of March

And how it burst in faith

That Easter Day "

The daffodils that danced upon the grassy hill

And formed a golden pathway to the ruins "

The sweet wet tongues of bold hibiscus,

Brandished in the sun's bright face at noon

And joined in joyous praise

With poor land daisies!

Yes, I shall wait upon

Your coming to the flowers,

Not far from the feathery mimosa,

Between the oak and waxy rose bush -

The scent of Persian lilac on a breeze

I will once more breathe in as you.
