This Time of NightA Poem by Kevin The WeirdSomething I wrote one night. It's my first poemThis time of night, when all is calm And I'm alone, awake, and aware I look for something, someone to hold... But soon I realize that you're not there.
This time of night, when all is dark I anxiously wait to hear your call With sleep eluding me at every hour, I never realized that I'd begun to fall.
This time of night, when all is bleak And I'm clawing, scrambling towards fleeting light But slowly, steadily, I lost my grasp Until I fell down...down...consumed by the night.
This time of night, when all is lost And I sit...cold, weak, alone I've lost sight of the light at the opening Thinking of the heart I'll never own.
This time of night, when all is failed And the darkness has taken me whole Through the fog of doubt and mist of despair You reach down from above to touch my soul.
This time of night, when all seemed nigh Your hand grasped mine, and you said, "Let's go Out of this hole of despair and misery Off to where the rivers of life flow."
This time of night, when all is calm And now I have no reason to die All of my thoughts are turned to the angel Who helped me remember what it's like to fly. © 2008 Kevin The WeirdAuthor's Note
