The prize - My heart

The prize - My heart

A Poem by Becca Hale

My heart shatters

I hold back tears

As the love we've shared

Disappears.

I paste a smile

Upon my face

And return to you

My thoughts a disgrace.

As much as I care

You don't feel the same

What I didn't know

Was this was a game.

You say you want

You say you feel

But all your words

Are too unreal.

Broken inside

I let the tears fall

And I say goodbye to you

Once and for all.

It takes years

But my heart mends

And as life goes on

I don't pretend.

Although I loved you

First and alot

I met someone new

Who took your spot.

Our love is better

Our love is stronger

And you can bet

It'll last longer.

I love him

We had a start

You won a fraction of my life

He won my heart.
