A Poem by Alicia

Ink spills on the paper like blood
leaving unchangeable scars on the fragile heart.
Once the words are written
they can't be taken back;
they can't be erased.
Thousands of marks
can't change the fact
that they were thought.
The ripping
the tearing
Only fractures the heart.
This love note is anything but.
Simple memories of promises that were never met are expressed.
A reminder that the love you once knew is gone.
The remaining pieces of heart
are stained with the ink.
The forever pounding heartbeats
mimic the words that will never be forgotten.
It's given up on wishing for your return.
Instead, it wishes the words were never spoken.
