Resilience in the Face of Loss

Though shadows fall, I will not break or yield,
To tears that rest in their eternal crest.
Ocean drops fill my eyes; pain renews

Each drop of grief, though sharp, I wield,
Aches seek to pin my heart to rest.
Though shadows fall, I will not break or yield.

Autumn's frosty hands grasp my soul; winds unsealed,
Tempests whip against my frozen chest.
Ocean drops fill my eyes; pain renews

Leaves sprout anew from branches; pain is killed.
I rise from tears and fears, reborn, undressed.
Though shadows fall, I will not break or yield.

Echoes of the past thrill dreams concealed,
With memories long, where sorrows once pressed.
Ocean drops sting my eyes; pain rekindles.

Nostalgia creeps, planting seeds in barren fields;
Old weeds return, yet still, I shall pass its test.
Though shadows fall, I rise and will not yield.

An excellently penned poem filled with equally excellent depiction. The poetess is resilient to the very final line in the poem. Wonderful strength emotionally and mentally to deal with the losses which come our way in life. Well done, Tumi. Great write!

A poem of resiliance indeed. I love the line "Nostalgia creeps, planting seeds in barren fields;" a wonderful statement that so well depicts what we all feel at one time or another. Very well worded.
