Love Tinkles on a Date

Love Tinkles on a Date

“Love Tinkles on a Date”

I knelt to profess, you knocked down the ring
No yes! nor No!"you just started to sing.
Eyes grew pale, drowning in a tight spot
As you raided the food, chewing rice and carrots.
Manners lost, you ate all while mumbling,

Cracks! Oh! Not the bone,
Each plate now empty and thrown
In the dungeon of your belly"
Lips licked, plates oh so yummy!
Gloomy, my shadow was nearly cloned.

You asked for surprise
After each plate of rice.
I joked with a hint of malice,
Counting up each dish in bucks and tallies"
Not once, not twice, but far beyond thrice.

"Dear, I lost my wallet,"
You glared, like an owlet.
The beers poured, glass cracked,
Your eyes twinkled, tone changes track"
"Let’s wash the plates, but skip the toilets!"

All eyes fed on your skin, not mine.
Then tripped on the ring, we entwined.
Your eyes spelled fire and ice;
“But dear, you asked for it”"what a surprise!
And with a wink, you teased, ‘Guess it’s your turn to dine!’”

Forgot to tell you the order that a Limerick is written in, Tumi... It is as follows:
Limericks are five-line poems.
The first, second, and fifth lines rhyme.
The third and fourth lines rhyme.
The first line usually introduces a person or place.
The middle of the poem sets up a silly story.
The end usually has a punchline or surprise twist.
It is a very specific order of words.
I love to write them too...
This is one I wrote a while back, it will give you an idea of what I mean:

There was an old dear from Armagh
Who started each morning with ‘cha’
With toast and honey
All melted and runny
Before she set off in her car

*Limerick is a city which is 50 miles from where I live. I am married to a Limerick man, he is from the county of Limerick, not the city...

Hope this helps...

Like Soren, I too, had visions of you feeding a very large dog who could never get enough to eat, but as I read on, I realised it was your beloved you wrote about! What a huge grocery bill you would incur each week and dining out would break you! Penned with humour, I enjoyed reading very much. Thank you for sharing, Tumi...

Wow!! My wife said that that was me. Used to eat a lot manners forgot she said I was a disgrace me always stuffing my face but no longer is that the case. Loved your poem it was absolutly savage and made me smile. Made me at first think that you were talking about the family dog. Good work
