I agree with Tom! This is a finely penned poignant poem which most of us would write to our loved ones, if we could, requesting them to grieve briefly for us, but to let us go because we have work to do in the next world too until we meet again. I love the advice you give to be aware of the fox in sheep's clothing. It is excellent advice because sometimes people try to take advantage of a beloved one on their own. Like Tom, I also find echoes of "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep" by Mary E. Frye... I will quote it here for you, so you may read it, Timu.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, meaningful, insightful and sometimes humourous poetry with us. It is ever a delight to read, Timu...

Most welcome always, Tumi... So pleased you enjoyed reading the other poem too...
A poignant poetic poem that requests no grief when one's time finally comes,but with an unselfish even altruistic theme, reminds me greatly of the poem ' Do not stand by my grave and weep ' by By Mary Elizabeth Frye (1905-2004).
Your poem carries a powerful message about cherishing life and memories while embracing strength and resilience in the face of loss. The plea not to cry or mourn when you pass reflects a desire for those you love to celebrate your life with joy and resilience. You encourage your loved ones to be strong and steadfast, warning them of potential challenges and urging them to carry on bravely. The imagery of being like rocks, firm and unwavering, resonates with a sense of fortitude and determination.
The assurance that you will remain together in dreams and memories offers solace and comfort, emphasizing the enduring connection beyond physical existence. Your words convey a deep understanding of life's impermanence and the importance of finding peace amidst grief. Thank you for sharing these heartfelt reflections on life and death. Your poem encourages us to cherish each moment and find strength in the face of loss.
