THE HEART OF A MAN

Could the heart of man be flawless?

Pure as the infant’s slumber

Could a man be without sin

Or wrong,

With the Fear of the unseen

 

Shall a man’s very heart

Be strong

To shudder at the lust crossing his path

Could the heart of man prevail?

Against the urge of the flesh

Been it frail

Like the feathers of a dove

Weak and full of sin

The heart of a man

In it lies rivers of iniquity
