War

War

A Poem by Tulpi

This is one of the poems I had written at a younger age. I had lost it. But recently I found it among some old papers. I want to share this with you too.

War is going on, soldiers are set

Starting from sunrise till sunset

This is the famous World War I

It again begins with the rising sun.

But war is a subject we should always shun

For it creates nothing but destruction.

Few years later World War II

Was very famous and destructive too

It had ended with people on the run

With more ashes and more destruction

Several years later when everything was right

Happiness everywhere, was nowhere in sight

When suddenly it had started, the Kargil war

Followed instantly by the Iraq War

All of us waited for India to win

With baited breath, no sound, no din

Somebody lost a brother, somebody lost a son

But it didn’t matter for we had won

God from above looks down and says

War is destruction, nothing to praise

One day you all will never be seen

Everything will be destroyed, everything unseen

You kill your fellow brothers because I have made you sane

You think out plans to kill for I had given you a brain

I like this poem, not war.. then no sane person like war. as in your last lines.
This has a good flow.. it reads easily and tells a sad tale.
I don't know how old you were when you write this, but it is well written.
