Chapter 1

His rumbling stomach awoke him from his sleep. Picking his head up from the table he felt very dizzy. He opened his eyes but couldnt see anything. He wasnt blind but the room he was in was very bright. White. Thats all he could see. He tried to stand up, nothing happened. He was being restrained to his chair. Still not being able to see he couldnt tell what was holding him down. He tried yelling but only muffled noises came out of his mouth. His mouth was taped shut. In a desperate move he shook his chair trying to knock himself on the ground. The chair wasnt able to move anymore then himself.

He sat there motionless waiting for his sight to come back in to focus. Thinking of how he got here. What was the last thing i was doing, he thought to himself. Sleeping. The last thing he could remember was falling asleep next to his wife in their bed. His wife. Where was she? Is she okay? Not knowing where his wife was or even if she safe enraged him. There was nothing he could do at this point though. He had to calm down.

Looking around the room he had noticed his sight was starting to come back. Very slowly he started noticing a few shapes in the room. Some things on the table infront of him, which was good he was starving. A brown spot across the table. Another person? His wife maybe? No if it's hair then it's too dark. Still everything but the food on the table was white. The walls, the ceiling, the table, his chair and even his clothes. These clothes were not his. He doesnt know where they came from. His sight was just about fully recovered now. First thing he did was look at what was holding him to his chair. Leather straps. His arms were strapped to the arms of the chair and legs strapped to the legs fo the chair. His stomach rumbled again. Looking at the table for the food made him even more hungry. It was a Thanksgiving feast. Mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn, green beans, dinner rolls, various pies and breads. It all looked very deilcious until he noticed it was all fake.

Trying to get his mind of the food he looked across the table at the other person. It was a woman. Her head was on the table. She had light brown hair and from what he could tell it was shoulder length. She too was wearing all white. Thats all he could tell. He then noticed a mirror to his left. It had to be a two-way mirror. Got him to thinking. Is someone watching us? Was this some kind of joke? Was this all done by one of his friends? Who knows at this point. He then noticed off to the right, next to the woman, there was an outline in the in the brick wall the shape of a door. If only he could get out of his restraints.

He put his head down to think for a few moments. Thats when he noticed that his chair was bolted to the floor. Thats why the chair wouldnt move when he was shaking it. Who is doing this? He couldnt wrap his mind around it. He didnt have any enemies that he could think of. He was getting frustrated. He lifted his head to the ceiling and just screamed and started shaking his chair again trying to free himself. He stopped when he noticed the woman had woken up and was watching him. He was right. Shoulder length light brown hair. She was very pale, looked like she hasnt eaten anything in days. Her eyes were blood shot from the tears that were coming down her cheeks. She just sat there staring at him it looked like she had given up on everything. There was no life to be seen in her. He felf bad for her. Upon seeing her in this state of shock made him realize this wasnt a joke and that they are in a very serious situation.

He couldnt stand it anymore. The poor helpless woman across from him looking sad. Not knowing where he was. Not knowing if his wife was okay. Not knowing how he got heree or who put him here. The anger was building inside him. He had never felt so angry in his life. He started shaking his chair again and screaming. His face turning red and veins popping out of his neck. Yet the chair still wouldnt move. Breathing heavy he stopped when he saw the woman looking at him still. She was slowly shaking her head at him. He had to stop. Had to calm down. Freaking out like that wasnt going to do them any good when the chair is still in place. He just sat there and stared at her while she had her head down on the table. He could tell she was still crying.

They just sat there her head was still on the table. He had moved his fovus over to the mirror on the left side of him. Trying to think of what could be on the other side. It just didnt make any sense to him. Why him? Why her? And who was she?

As they sat there for what seemed like forever all he could think about was that mirror. Thats what creeped him out the most. Made him sick to think that someone was watching and probably enjoying them tied up. Sick people in this world. His eyes started feeling very heavy. With nothing else to do and no escape at this point he let them close.

'The rain was pouring on the tin roof. That tin roof didnt hold the water out very well either. The ground was a thick mud. His bed or his mattress was wasnt saved from the rain or mud either. Cold. He was very cold and his clothes were drenched. As he sat in the corner trying to keep himself warm he looked around his prison. Three walls, each made up of wooden logs not very long. Nailed to the logs were pieces of tin to keep him from seeing other captives. The gate in front was like any other chainlink gate. The whole "shack" was covered in barbed wire to keep captives from escaping.

The rain dripping off his face would usually drive him crazy but at this point nothing really bothered him. After everything he had been through he didnt really get bothered by the little things anymore. He heard the footsteps coming but like always ignored them. They walked right by his prison shack and the footsteps faded in the distance. Not sure what was going to happen next he did the only thing he could do. Sit there. He couldnt go anywhere and he knew it was only a matter of time before they came and took him out of his cell. "They" he didnt even know who "they" were. He could never see them. Everythime they walked by it was just a shoadow. The shape was deffinately human, just a bit taller.

The only thing that kept him going was the thunder and lightening. He had always liked thunderstorms but they were ten times better here. Wherever that was. The lightening always lit up the sky no matter how dark. The thunder was loud as ever, just as he liked. It always seemed to be dark around this place as well. He couldnt understand it.

He started hearing a banging noise. Looking around very slowly trying to figure it out. This was a new noise. He had not heard anything like it before. Not here anyways. He stood up very slowly. Very sore. He limped around his little prison shack. It was getting louder but he still couldnt figure out where the hell it was coming from. Louder and louder he couldnt stop it and had know clue where it was coming from. It was getting so loud it was starting to hurt his ears. He screamed but could barely hear himself. Covering his ears he fell in the mud. Screaming as loud as he could to get the noise to stop.'

He jumped when his eyes opened. Looking around he was in the white room again. It had all been just a dream. The mystery girl still sitting across from him with her head down. Still strapped to his chair. He was sweaty and shaking bad. That was a hell of a dream he thought to himself. His eyes hurt from the sudden change of dark to light. He had to calm himself down to keep from shaking. It was just a dream. But it seemed so real. He closed his eyes and just tried to relax. the shaking started to stop. He was starting to feel a little cool so he knew the sweat had stopped.

When he was finally calm he opened his eyes to the same white surrounding. That noise. The one he had heard in his dream. It was coming from the other side of the wall to his right where the shape of a door was. Not nearly as loud however. Blinded again.... this time by dark. He couldnt see a damn thing. First it was too bright and now he couldnt see anything. Now what was going on? He could only imagine. It definitely wasnt doing any good for his eyes.

A rumbling sounds started to the wall to the right of him. And like he had made this room himself right where he thought should be a door opened up. The whole wall was brick so he wasnt sure how it worked. When it opened a dim light came through. He wondered who was going to go through and what was going on. A tall dark shadow came walking through. He couldnt make anything else out, going from really light to pitch black really messed up hes sight. The figure walked over to the woman. He could hear her whimpering. A quick blue light and a "zap" noise made him jump. The whimpering stopped and he could hear the figure walking towards him. He was shaking his chair doing anything he could to get out but it was no use. Trying to scream through his tapped mouth wasn't doing much good either. He heard the figure stop next to him on his left, then felt a sharp pain on his back and blacked out.

Very dizzy he slowly came back to conciseness. He was on something more comfortable then a chair. In fact he was laying down now. He could move his legs and arms again. He rolled over on his back, eyes still closed, and started feeling the middle of his back where there was still a little pain. He slowly opened his eyes and noticed he was in another white. All the walls and the floor (which he was laying on) where padded. No furniture in this room however. He sat up with his back in a little discomfort. Looking around he saw the same woman in the corner sitting there with her knees up and head resting on them. He tried to say something to her but he could barely speak. Trying to stand up his legs felt like rubber and immediately fell down. He crawled over to her instead.

"Hey", he said his voice rough.

     She didn't answer.

"Hello? Are you alright? Can you hear me?", still no answer.

She just sat there with her head and arms resting on her knees.

"Look", he said , "It looks as though you've been her awhile. So please, when your ready let me know whats going on here. Because I have no clue." She still just sat there not saying anything. Didn't even move.

Trying to think of what to do he decided to try standing up again. Still his legs felt like rubber and fell again.

"Damn it!" He was starting to get frustrated after about 2 more attempts and not being able to stand up still. Giving it one last shot he used the wall to help keep his balance. How ever it didn't work and he fell against the wall. He gave up. Just laying there he closed his eyes. They felt heavy but he wasn't tired. He must have been laying there for about 15 minutes with his eyes closed thinking. He still didn't have a clue about where his wife was. Doesn't even if she was alive for that matter. He had to figure out what was going on here and then find a way to get out. If only he could get that woman to talk to him. She's got to know something about where they are.

"Give it a few more times. Your legs will start getting use to it", and like she could read his mind she spoke up.

"Heh, i really hope so," he said waiting for a response but didnt get one, "So, uh, do you know whats going on in this place?"

She said something but he couldnt hear her cause she still had her head between her legs. She looked up and at him and he noticed she had been crying and still looked like hell. She spoke up very softly.

     "Who are you," she asked.

"Oh my name is Adam. Adam Stills. And yours?"

     "Alexis Poe."

"Well nice to meet you. So not to sound," he hesitated looking for a good word to use, "Demanding or annoying but i ask again. Do you have any clue whats going on here?"

She looked at him like he had ten heads.

"Do you have any idea how you got here," she asked him. He just shook his head very slowly, "Whats the last thing you remember doing?"

"Well the last thing i was doing was sleeping. I remember going to bed next to my wife. Who, by the way, I dont know where she is."

"Well i hate to be the bearer of bad news. But most likely she's dead," she stopped there to let this news sink in to Adam.

He could feel his eyes getting watery as he closed them to think for a moment. This couldn't be right. He knew she was still alive, she had to be. Why would she be dead in the first place?

"Why? Why would she be dead? You think the people who kidnapped us killed her?"

     "Most likely."

"Well what do they want from us? I have nothing. I'm not a millionaire. I'm not famous or anything like that."

"That dont matter to them," she leaned closer to him, "They dont want anything from us. Except to keep us locked up like they do."

"I dont get it. Why do they kidnap us just to keep us locked up in a room? Is this some kind of secret government experiment?"

"Not even close. It's beyond that. Bigger then you can even imagine. You sure you can handle something that big? I've seen quite a few people come in and out of here and just completely break down for good when they find out the truth. They never believe me until they see it themselves."

"Try me. I use to be in the military I've seen some messed up things in my life."

"If you say so. But don't say i didn't warn you. First of all these "people" are not "people". Now this is going to sound crazy i'm sure but get ready. They're aliens. From another galaxy i'd imagine," she stopped and waited for a reaction.

     "Aliens," Adam asked her.

"Yes, thats what i said. And the reason they keep us locked up in this place? They use us like zoo animals. That room we were in before is our "cage"," she started crying again. Adam looked at her with disbelief. Staring at her, he couldnt believe what he was hearing. "They let other aliens come down and pay to see us locked up in here. It shows them how we live our daily life. You wanted the truth. There it is. Hope you can handle it better then most the other people that were here could."

Adam looked away from her. He could feel his heart sink. He knew his whole body had probably gone pale. He didn't know what to think of what he was just told.

"Well did they capture everyone in the world or just the United States," Adam asked while still staring in to space.

"You mean Earth? To be honest, i don't think we're on earth."

This made Adam feel even worse.

"Why do you say something like that?"

"Because they let us go outside, well force us more like it. And the sky is definitely not Earth's."

"So your saying we've been abducted? Okay, so maybe my wife wasn't taken and she's still alive back on Earth."

"I wouldn't count on it. As much as i hate to say it if they got you while you were with her. They most likely got her too."

"Well maybe she's still alive then. Somewhere around this building we're in," Adam said trying to give himself some kind of hope.

"Maybe she is. But most dont last long around here."

"No. I cant imagine they would. Do you have a guess as to how many other people are trapped here?'

"To many. I don't have an exact number or even an estimate. Doesnt really matter though does it? One person on this god forsaking planet is to many."

"I agree. Thats why we have to get outta here."

And with that they both sat in silence for the remainder of the night. Adam couldn't believe the situation him and apparently many others were in. He kept thinking to himself that his wife was still fine and had to be somewhere in this building with him. She had to be. It was the only thing giving him hope at this point.
