Harlem

Harlem

A Poem by Ty
"

Afro-Cuban Jazz

"
Cachao.
What is Afro-Cuban Jazz all about?
Between cultures knitted with bridges and routes
Lemon Meringue pie
Mellow melodies and vibe.
Jazz on top
Afro-Cuban on the bottom
Nobody could play maracas like Machito,
Tidal wave of walls of sounds exploding from horns and key notes
High kettle's pitch
The rhythm heritage
The African origin
Settling in East Harlem
Or Spanish Harlem,
Washington Heights
Nights at La Conga
The Palladium
Magic in a stadium
Meeting point to coexist peacefully
West Side Story
Bing ba bing bing bing, 1, 2, 3,
Only to raise from the instrument
Your head to see Dizzie Gillespie.
From Cuba to Harlem to the stage of Woodstock.
