it feels like home

it feels like home

A Poem by Taylor Lane
"

have you ever looked into someone's eyes, and known that is where you belong?

"
sun soaked whiskey on a summer day, glistening before me
warm fudge brownies melting my spirit and weakening me
copper pennies clattered on the floor, always heads up and making me feel lucky
warm honey drenching my heart
rich hot espresso setting me abuzz, triggering my thoughts, jolting me awake
spiced cinnamon wafters so inviting to me
rich as molasses and dripping as such, pulling me in, begging for my touch
falling deep into them, for him i fell as well
those eyes how they entranced me, had me under a spell
yearning for them every day, begging for their smile
the way they dances along the sky, more spectacular than the rising sun
a sunset all within their own, warming me with their touch, the look they gave and the heart they held
golden flecked embers, richer than the base of the earth, bringing life to me as the earth does for trees
but those eyes, oh they were torture
they were the brown frayed ropes which minded me and the dark smooth poison which sickened me
but most of all, they were that fiery desire that captured me, kept me yearning, pulled me in, and filled me
they filled me with passion and desire
and without them I am empty
watching them blink tears, transforming into rich dark bourbon flowing
makes me never want to drink again for fear I will see those tears before me
looking in his eyes was comfortable like a warm embrace, holding me, keeping me safe
looking into his eyes doomed me, for none shall ever compare
deep in dreams I see them, and it is almost like he is there
and with those warm eyes before me, all I can do is stare
