Ships passing

Ships passing

A Poem by Taylor Lane
"

losing someone you swore to always be there, who never really was

"

You said youd never leave me as I cried on the bathroom floor

You said youd never leave me as you lived in your own world

You flew around the world, youd charm all the girls, I sat alone waiting to see the three dots meaning you were mine

You said youd never leave me as everyone else disappeared

You said id never be alone and that I would always have you

You said that you would pick up the phone and call me you said you would always try

You said youd never leave me you said you would never make me cry

And now im left and broken crying myself to sleep

You said youd never leave as you went and stayed with her

You said youd never leave me as she became your whole world

She never even loved you, not nearly the way I could

You said you never leave me and I thought you understood

Understood that I was broken, dependent on your love, thinking you were honest

You conned me into thinking that I was it for you, I thought I had your focus, but I never really knew

I was just a replacement a filler in her space, until you realized it was time for me to be replaced

You said youd never leave me oh god I was such a fool

You consumed every hour and every thought within my mind

Your love was such a privilege, one that wasn’t mine

You said youd never leave me and my whole world was you

I told you Id been left before, id shown you the cuts along my wrist

Taunting me and showing me all of the signs I missed

My throat is raw from screaming my eyes are red from tears

I scream at the walls because there’s no one left to hear

At least you never lied to me, what you said was true

You never really left me because I never really had you.
