Message in a Bottle

Message in a Bottle

A Poem by ttom

                  Message in a bottle

                Capsule from the past
                Holds a moment in time
                in childlike

                adoration

                An atmosphere under cork
Fragrant was the air of  false spring
stirring life , in a bewildering infusion of warmth
Setting sleeping fields ablaze with a

                Fleeting beauty

Blossoms to fragile for winters’ fierce return were
                felled by frosts’ icy blade
                Pierced, as
Crimson droplets fell in frigid silence

Emotions rolled in bondage, across a tiny page
                Needed to flow freely
                to grow in time

                imperfectly

Failing to adapt to the changing clime
               Sentenced to a lonely extinction

               Slowly suffocated in captive air

               A trinkets’ fascination quickly fades
Cold and empty as the crafter grew
Trapped in glass; as fragile as the feelings

               Long since passed

This is fantastic! The metaphors are amazing and it has a profound and touching meaning for me.
My message was in a tin, sealed for 20 years. She burned it in my back yard firepit.
You are a truly gifted poet, please keep posting!
