Giving

Giving

A Poem by thetish
"

After seeing the painting ‘If I have to go...’, my heart fell heavy for those pictured. Perhaps these are her thoughts? https://hildetornby.wordpress.com/

"
Can you feel my giving-
more and more each day?
Stretching out, offering richly-
all there is in me:
Such energy and fragments
of my hopeless soul.

Still, you stand, aloof,
back turned away, head down.
Content to block out all of me.
Bent forward in your own reality.
Ignorant to the surroundings-
not knowing what you are missing.

Still, I stand here outreaching
Offering up my last morsels.
Wanting you, as forever, waiting.
For you to turn back to me
To respect this eternal urge.

Can you not turn back?
Just once?
Will you just look up?
To me?
What should I say?
Which words?
How can I give our love away?

These words are so painfully voiced, and you can feel the aching longing. It becomes such a heavy darkness when the one you love begins to move away. Everything tries to change the world, and yet the doors only lock around us.
