The Heartbeat of the Universe

A steady rhythmic tone.

Beating through my head.

Pulsing

Throbbing.

Forever.

The heartbeat of the universe.

Will it ever end?

Continues on,

Endless

Dangerous

Beautiful.

I hate it.

I love it.

I cannot rid myself of it.

Why does it never end?

It is mine.

And mine only.

I think

I might be going insane.

With the heartbeat in my mind.

How can you not hear it?

It is so loud.

So loud.

Echoing in my ears.

Why can you not see it?

It is all around us.

Everywhere.

Until the end of time.

It brings life,

And it sends death.

It is beauty.

It is life.

It is here.

Why won’t it stop?

I don’t think I want it to stop.

I do not know

I do not know

Why can’t I understand/

I am so confused.

Please

Make this noise

Stop.

Decided to go for one of the more depressing ones this time around.

Well this situation can be the result of a few events or emotions. But I loved this write as it echoes certain things I feel.
One possibility is that we are occupied by our love for someone and that love pervades and possesses us. That is a phase one cannot escape when that feeling or emotion grips us.
Whatever it is, your write is well crafted and it gave me other thoughts that may not match with your state or motive in sharing this write.
We go through certain phases in different stages of life, our mind being gripped by a particular thought, emotion or real problem, whatever it is that thought, pain can put us in the situation which we call depressing.
Your using the word universal heart beat can be read and understood from different angles had you not put that statement in the author's note.
I normally don't read the authors note when I read a poem but I now realize to get the author' s perspective we should read authors note.
