Playing Pretend

Playing Pretend

A Poem by Lindsay.

Jaded dreams

Broken wings

Beautiful love

That now only stings.

You’re my love

You’re my everything

You’re my dream…

But I’m just not your ‘thing’.

I’m not her

I could never be

The one you’d give up everything for

Like you are for me…

I have dug this hole

Using faith and hope

But then I realized truth

And knew I couldn’t cope.

But I need you

And so I’ll pretend

That you love me like her

Until finally my heart will no longer mend.

I love the gentle expression of the poem. The first stanza was exceptional. "You're my love
You're my everything" really sows together the entire piece.
Nice read.
