My Barriers

My Barriers

A Poem by Lindsay.

You look into my eyes

And what do you see?

Is the person you’re staring at

Really me?

Do you see past my mask?

Do you see past the lies?

Do you see past the fake smiles?

Do you see me dying inside?

Letting you into my

Dark, gloomy world

And letting you thaw my

Once frozen heart

Is a chance I’m willing to take

As long as it’s a choice you’re willing to make.

Will you see past

The barriers I put up?

Will you see past?

The smiles I fake?

I wait for the day

When I can say, “I’m fine”

And mean it.

To you, if only you.
