Man

Man

A Poem by Bera PT

I watch, if not for only the moment,
I am glad that you're having a good time.
And I'm glad that you got what you wanted, that was my wish.
And I still love you, even if I don't show it.

I back away to seal the night for myself,
I know this is what you want.
I know that you have no room for me in your life any longer.
My pain takes a back seat to you.

But it doesn't quite seem fair
to leave me all alone as if what I need
and what I crave isn't important to anyone but myself
but you can abandon me if you choose.

But I'll silence my selfish emotions quickly,
and I'll thank you for teaching me that it is selfish to want.
I'll turn my back on my own heart, my own feelings, and what is best for me
and I will thank you for teaching me what it means to be a man.
