Dream

A Poem by T. S.

Close your eyes,
shut them tight,
escape the world
and its unforgiving
lies.
Release the anger
tearing at your soul;
Fight away the deception
of kind smiles and
gentle words.
As you tumble into
the unwavering darkness,
lay down your
heavy head and
surrender to the
alluring repose of
makeshift dreams~

Love this poem. It's beautiful in its simplicity. Poignant. It carries a weary feel to it, as if the weight of the world is just so very heavy, and tumbling into bed with a heavy sigh takes the last of your inner energy. And yet, you leave us with a sense that even in slumber that weight is not lifted. It's haunting. I love it.

If only turning off the world was that easy. We can do so much in our dreams, makeshift or otherwise. I like this, T.S. A good write.
