When You Killed YourselfA Poem by T.S. ClausYour Earthly luggage shackling We are snared in sadness here With bed linens tucked and draperies draped I have rubbernecked in waiting through the window Wandering evermore for that hint of you Till nonentity surmount to entity There is nothing to conjure I need your love in the mess Desperate since sixth-sensing that Sniffing your cologne I’d swear you’re here I have made it up from nothing Lately I believe it, too But reminiscence is not real; a picture in my head That reminiscence might just do Until I come be nothing with you It serves to be your spirit, too Routine confiding with an emptied room Opened my mouth but said nothing new Talking to inanimates since you’ve been gone I both let go and stay held on Once the Sun has risen now, I plan to see to that Down three sets of stairs, to the yard I’ll go It’s all I have to remember you This stone will have to do
