One Years Time

One Years Time

A Poem by T.S. Claus

Stay with me for all the crazy things
I put you through the misery
A sick heart and NyQuil

See me in it; what I'll do that hurts you
Nothing's gonna make sense then
'Neath comforters and sheets

I do things often out of love
Will you see me looking over?

I know who you are when no one else does
Days we hadn't one dollar
Flat tires, strange numbers
Noon cemeteries just because
Silly gay park picnics

Keep quiet through our mess
Who will love you in one years time?

I'm certain that this is deeply meaningful to you, because you know, going in, the significance of every word. As such, it
s great therapy...for you. But what about the reader. For the it's someone muttering about things for which they have no context. And the goal of poetry isn't to make the reader know, or sympathize. It's to make them feel. It's to touch the emotions already in the reader's minds and make them react to the situation in the poem as-if-they-were-living-it. Move them, don't inform them. Make them laugh or cry, but with you, not as a spectator.

Harder to do? Hell yes. But that's why they pay poets big bucks. ;)

I'm not sure if I understand this piece. It's well written but the context i'm sorry to say is lost on me. I have no doubt it has some deep meaning for you but as a reader there is little to fill out the picture.

I really enjoyed reading this! I feel as if there was a strong connection along with some crazy times within this peace, I long to have something like that.

Good job! And keep writing :)

I liked the adventures and tale in the poem.
"Keep quiet through our mess
Who will love you in one years time?"
The above lines are a perfect ending to the excellent poetry.

There's an angst and fervent, desperate tension in these words.
The final two lines, IMHO, are brilliant.

The forth stanza took me somewhere in my own heart. the poem as a whole is something that anyone who has been in a lasting relationship can understand and relate too. it makes me look back on my own life and the trials i went through with my girlfriend in the last 3 years I've been with here. Bravo! this piece is one i think many people should read at least once (:
