A Cautionary Tale

Dark Poem

"

Gather round the fire and I shall tell you a tale. A tale of a mad woman whose husbands love did fail. She spent her days loving him and catering to his ego.

She would spend hours in the mirror so to her husband she would look pleasing.

The days turned into weeks, weeks into years. From this man never a kind word or touch.

From this woman there were only tears.

The more she tried to love him the crueler he became. He would laugh at her pleading, her tears met with distain.

Sadly I watched from a distance unable to help her pain. In time his cruelty had grown and her mind drifted towards insane.

Now eventually her sadness turned to anger and her hurt turned to rage

.For his own murder he had set the stage.

She would pace the floor at night as her husband lay asleep.

Pacing, plotting, planning, and just waiting for revenge.

Thoughts of the years wasted, all the love she was denied. Her thoughts became twisted until she finally lost her mind.

Cold and silent on a February night, she sat at the table looking at the knife.

She could hear him breathing heavy as he lay in their bed. The sound became deafening as she head up the stairs.

She crept up beside him, sickened by his sight.

She stared at his sleeping face as she drew up the butcher’s knife.

Only hating this man and the pain he had caused since she became his wife.

Putting the knife to his cheek, he woke with a fright.

There was terror showing on his face as he looked at his wife.

Before he could scream or toward the door he could dart, she laughed and plunged the knife straight into his heart.

Now it has been rumored but I can’t say for sure.

She had been holding his heart in her hands

When the police kicked in the door.

She had not much to say in the years that passed.

She explained it like this once when the Doctors had asked.

“I asked him for his love and care. He broke my heart into pieces and stomped it into the floor. I simply replaced what he had broken s and he could hurt me no more”.

This should sever men well as a cautionary tale.

 Read it once or twice.

Treat your wife with love and care or your wife may take your life
