winter

winter

A Poem by Jb

cigarette shaking in a once steady hand

dodging in and out of the headlights, mind in another land

heat is on full blast, her bones forever cold

translucent porcelain skin speaking a story never told

eyelids begin to flutter, but they cannot yet close

because there is still too much for this walking corpse to impose

so her heart will continue beating faintly, waiting for an end

they day when her rotten soul and body can finally transcend

because this earth to hollow now for her emptiness to thrive

it's only a matter of a few more drags until she's no longer alive
