Pure PoetryA Poem by Truman S. BoothI really like the rhyme scheme in this one.The river flowing from my heart Is dammed by cruel restriction. ‘Tisn’t fair! ‘Tisn’t fair! Why couldn’t I put in a say? I did not get to have a part And no one heard my diction. So many tears, yea, by the liter, I have lost through open eyes. You don’t care! You don’t care! You laugh at what I have to say. And so I write it out in meter To determine truth from lies. Poetry, dear verse, I know you! Never could you lie to me. Will you share? Will you share? Tell me what I need to say! Shall I go confess my love true? Please instruct, pure poetry. Then it seems to whisper softly, “Love is only true in me. Never will you find perfection In a world of misconception.” © 2010 Truman S.
