![]() Pure PoetryA Poem by Truman S. Booth![]() I really like the rhyme scheme in this one.![]() The river flowing from my heart Is dammed by cruel restriction. ‘Tisn’t fair! ‘Tisn’t fair! Why couldn’t I put in a say? I did not get to have a part And no one heard my diction. So many tears, yea, by the liter, I have lost through open eyes. You don’t care! You don’t care! You laugh at what I have to say. And so I write it out in meter To determine truth from lies. Poetry, dear verse, I know you! Never could you lie to me. Will you share? Will you share? Tell me what I need to say! Shall I go confess my love true? Please instruct, pure poetry. Then it seems to whisper softly, “Love is only true in me. Never will you find perfection In a world of misconception.” © 2010 Truman S. Booth |
