Raindrops of the WorldA Poem by Amorella LinDescriptions of prejudice.I’d often wonder At the twinkling lights above the horizon Murmuring over the silent waves At a fish slipping between silken strands; As I stand, hands with wet droplets Singing in the misty rain I’d believe in the presence Of another soul thrumming in the wind Of another tied and breathing Licking and nudging across dry skin Of a voice echoing between the caves; Caverns not so far from our hearts With a voice empty and whole through and through Whispering before we speak And speaking before thoughts form; Our vices’ words slither beneath the moon; They instruct us to forget our pasts To demean others To forget our own dreams and yearnings and hopes To kill and maim To forget our connected webs Of a bright love for another soul, Of a lesson still hesitating to be learned, Of the lives still yearning to be understood Of a tenuous balance between friend and foe-- They beseech us to slice across fresh faces. And we do. Soon the overwhelming feeling of injustice Will collapse the caverns under their weight As the wind and tumultuous rain Pound on bare rocks with acid. And though eyes continue to see And hands touch soft and full, The flurry of dances and promises To each other and to ourselves Will be for naught If we are half of a human being.
In a world of hate and prejudice, None can bridge the gap between two different people But for the same mothers and fathers sharing this land; From the same mass of a cloud, the precipitation Swims off and takes root all over the world. © 2015 Amorella LinAuthor's Note
