Rebel At Heart

Rebel At Heart

A Poem by Tristan E

to roam
bittersweet
but mostly bitter
run, walk, jog
either way you're going nowhere
you warned that you were going to leave
but no one believed you
and since you are power
since you are rebellion
since your feet strike lightning when you take a step
since they send a signal to your mouth
before asking your heart
since you spit fire
and smoke
at the only people who care

you walk
never to return

but your fire sparked a flame
and your flame
burned down your only constant
what was once a haven
is now only ashes
since you cause destruction
since your only love is chaos
you return
to see what you've so lovingly created

stand in the place where you live
and tell me you don't want to stick around
stand in the place where you love
and tell me it isn't worth it
stand still
gain peace
and still, feet can't stand
to stay any longer
why are you so eager to leave, child
if you have nowhere to go?
why are you too busy for ease, dear
when you are still so young?
