Mythology

Mythology

A Poem by Tristan E

i stand at the door of your heart for so long
my knees grow weak
you peek your eye
glossed over with recluse
through the peephole
and i hear the door unlock
but i don't want to walk in without
a warm welcome home

when you first let me in
i held on too tight
white knuckle flirtation
you were the sun the moon and all the stars
you held up the sky
what was i compared to a god like you?

atlas
you guided me
atlas
you carried me
atlas
you became weak and i helped you hold up
hercules
i had no choice
hercules
i was young
hercules
i wanted to help you
hercules
apparently i am a household name
though if hercules knew his name meant negativity
i'm sure he wouldn't be too happy about it
hades
how did i become synonymous with
hades
how did my love for you turn me into
hades

i like to think what we had was real
but if i am compelled
by aphrodite or metis or athena
to compare it to greek mythology
then by zeus
let koalemos be my name
