What It Didn't Need To Be

What It Didn't Need To Be

A Poem by TrishArias

You wandered with no purpose in this world.
You felt alone at such a young age.
The world was your playground but also such a scary place.
It didn't need to happen.
You never should have been left in the world to die.
There didn't have to be excuses.
You were never meant to roam alone in life.
You were meant to prosper.
Family and holidays should have kept you grounded.
You didn't need to go days without contact.
The world wasn't meant to be faced with such a young soul.
You needed nurturing.
You needed a home...

When something tragic happens, there's always a sense of confusion and a search for answers. Who was to blame, what was missed? Sadly, people are failed by so many people who were never meant to fail them, and it seems that often we don't realise it until it's too late to change. Sad but truthful poem.
