No Time

No Time

A Poem by Mortricia

There is no time

disappearing act

dead end clocks

cul-de-sac

which path to take

the well is dry

the ticking snakes

were slithering lies

used up space

sallow highs

all around us

there is no time

The shortness of the lines gives the poem a staccato rhythm which really makes you feel like you are running out of time as you jump from line to line. Also, the fact that you begin with the same line that you end with makes it feel even more frantic: one feels that everything in between (the first and last lines) is merely a moment of frantic pause where the person without time is frozen in indecision. Great write! I love it when i can feel it!
