Familiar burning

Written deep into night, when my Muse is practically BEGGING to be woven into poetry...enjoy!

A familiar burning

Tongue is yearning

Cheeks flushed

With things untamed

Speech reclaims

The silent air

Eyes closed

The soul lay bare

Do I dare

Speak the words

Of endless universe?

Sweet wonder

In frozen awe

These rhymes shall fly

Until the dawn

As they gleam and settle

On front lawn

Blind to all

But the yawn

Of fading moon

Midsummers’ festoon

Lay dying by the ashes

As rain falls

And silver flashes

Behind secret clouds

Looking down

To mortals

Soft chortles

Echo o’er the hills

As He envisions

The collisions

Of what is real

And what are dreams

Oh, the eyes gleam

So far away

The words tickle my lips

And start to stray

Off to paths

Never turn back

To what is meant to be

The crashing sea

Pounds to shores

Earth and water

Evermore

Turn the tides

Of human wars

And the trees

Standing tall

Branches stretch

 to sunrise

and moonfall

roots hold Earth

as done since birth

Evermore

Forever and eternal

My Muse shall sing

Words of other

Unearthly things

But in silence

Shine thy diamonds

Of bittersweet

Farewell

For me, the rhyming was sooooo spot-on I just kept writing and writing and writing...it was really beautiful to experience. X)

I love this!!! Throughout the poem, I was trying to decide which line I would say captured the beauty and power of this, but it was a tie among about half of the lines... I absolutely love the tempo and the flow of this. Usually poems with quicker or rushed paces make me slow down, but I kept up with this one and hung on every word! By the way-the rhymes? Awesome! :)
