Prince

Prince

A Poem by David Elijah
"

decembertwelvethtwentyseventeen. i meet a homeless man who goes by his middle name, Prince...

"
I know that the last few years were a hassle
It's okay that you forgot my name
Because even though you'll never live in a castle
You're a prince all the same

You just want to forget me
And I wish you the best of luck
Think I won't ever be ready
Didn't think I'd be giving you up

The evening I heard your story
Was a night I didn't want to die
Life has been good to me
So I'll stick around and fight

I know that the last few years were a hassle
I say that is such a shame
Because even though you'll never live in a castle
You're a prince all the same

Right now you might be homeless
But shelter in heaven
Is waiting for you

Prince is your name and
There's a King waiting
Waiting for you.
