Day by Day

Day by Day

A Poem by Khristian Burkhart

'Twas yesterday you feared me
And yesterday before you knew me
That your heart did ache
Until today, when knowledge did make
Your heart despise me.

Stop!
Let it be yesterday once more!
When knowledge of truth and lies
Had no affect on love's dedication
And when neither asked "whys?"

Will tomorrow be a better day?
Or will it be worse than today?
Sick am I from this event
That you and I grew distant.

"We are okay,"
'Tis what you say.
The look upon you face
Speak other words,
"Till tomorrow, that is."

Once you said your love grew
As days went by days.
What would you to say
If I asked again by day?

I am one who dances with closed eyes, thin lips, and an open mind. I am one who deems the rugged crisp tone of the German tongue seductive. I am one who was born where she stands, but dreams to make t.. more..
