Religion

Religion

A Poem by Ricky Campbell

Who knew grown men could act like such children

That we would fight over a topic so absurd

Religion

Why do they bicker and fight if they're trying to find peace?

Very contradicting to say the least

There are countless religions in our world today

And what they all aim for is very easy to say

To please God and to do no wrong

All with similar key points but differing details

Some are the total opposites

They stand out and believe in what they want

They don't care what others are thinking of them

They want to find peace

That is the type of religion I admire

Not the kind who will nuke each other over something so minor

Violence is petty, brutal, and unnecessary

Seems difficult for most to understand

We can coexist in peace

By not stepping on or taking another mans land

If there is a dispute, there is no need to take it to the battlefield

Talk it through with one another, say how you really feel

All of our problems are so avoidable

People keep on overlooking this

We need to make a change to our world

And we can start like this

"once a man and twice a child and everything is for a while.........." men fighting over the faith since the beginning of the civilize world. "my god told me to do this", "my god told me to stop you", "my god told me to kill you", and on and on it goes.

there is lot to talk when we get down out at this topic even scientifically and socially but we may tend to lean towards atheism when we know about the world history and knowledge..but humans are weak and feeble they always managed to found reason to destroy themselves oneness wont be there until the threat is from extraterrestrial ....
enjoyed reading it... peace out... keep smiling :)

I agree.
"We can coexist in peace
By not stepping on or taking another mans land
If there is a dispute, there is no need to take it to the battlefield"
Can't show the want of peace with sending 100,000 soldiers and a pointing gun. Peace is learn with the gift of medicine, food and water. Concern, kindness and hope is the way to peace. I hope we learn ASAP. Work for peace or work for the destruction of our world. Thank you Ricky for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This is really well said. I can feel your frustration through this poem and how everyone is trying to acheive "peace" yet they are only creating much more destruction.

We are a fickle race by nature and religion but offers guidance to the misguided. Unfortunately the misguided always find a way to taint the very precept of peace. All texts throughout the globe teach nothing but harmony. Your words at this age inspire and brings hope for the future.

Indeed, many conflicts today are caused by the diverse preferences in religion. The same questions have bothered me before. Why do they wrong people and keep on fighting if they truly want to find peace. Your points speak the truth. Great work!

I couldn't have said it better myself. No two people are the same, so neither of them may believe in the same things. If people were just more open minded and accepted this, the world would be a better place.

Very interesting and moving write. I wish the world could read this. I love the blunt honesty and stirring of emotions in your words. Thank you for sharing this with us, my friend.
