DesireA Poem by Ricky CampbellWe all can feel alone sometimesDesire is like gasoline, it can be used for the better or worse It can fuel your engine and take you far Or burn down your hopes and dreams Desire in a way drives us all mad, but that can be good Drive you mad enough so you go where others are afraid And possibly change the world for the better It can also lead you to the negative extremes Where we all steer clear of But in this case, I desire a companion And yeah I know, who doesn't? But holding onto your thoughts is dangerous indeed Writing them down, or talking them through is healthy And my hand is tired Someone to encourage me when I set a goal And to pick me up when I fall down Someone just to lay by my side when we are too tired to carry on And just relax, how great does that seem? Somebody beautiful, on the inside and out One who looks out for others before themselves, just like me A leader who can lead me out of a rut Mostly just somebody to care when all is wrong When hope is lost and desire is on low Someone to boost it back up I want a companion, but yeah who doesnt?
