Watching you disappear
day after day is killing me
the color in your face slips away
a little more every morning

even know you couldn't respond
to our friendship the way i could
because of your illness
i know you remembered all the time we shared

the light in your eyes gets
dimmer and dimmer
slipping piece by piece
to the angels you'll soon stand by
the last day i checked on you
i knew it was coming soon
i seen the pain and confusion
in your eyes as you gasped for air 
i wish i was there to say one last time

Really deep emotions here...I felt the loss, because it's something I've experienced...that death arrives for a loved one...and I felt helpless, to help them...it's a shattering experience. I greatly commend you for baring your soul...awesome write, Sarah.

Aw, sweet.
One thing that I picked up on however was where you wrote
"I seen"
rather than
"I saw"
just a little typo.
The rest is all quite well written though, particularly the opening few lines.
