No Country for Old Boomers

No Country for Old Boomers

A Poem by Elias Kovats
"

Angry....I'm not sure at what....

"
Anxiety? No no, you're just imagining it, I tell myself
As if it were normal for my internal dialogue to talk back to me like another human being
Only he is a hollow shadow of cynicism and self doubt, brainwashed by what he believes society would tell me if I voiced my thoughts aloud
"There's no depression here, we're all happy and smiling and carrying on because we know it could be worse"
"Stop complaining you've got it made here. "
"You don't have sleep problems you're just doing it for attention"
He sounds just like those baby boomers who have nothing better to do than talk about how our generation does everything wrong
And yet the elders hate the whining and complaining of a generation that got handed everything
By mommy and daddy and we can't do anything right because we like to think about it too much, and we don't want to do it the old fashioned way because its quite frankly stupid
Spoiled brats who get it easy with texts and junk food, and what happened to the American Dream?
Someone tell Frost what happens when dreams get deferred like the students loans of an education we can't afford

Because all the colleges became members only clubs for the ones who "don't have problems"
Because they've "got it all figured out" with daddy's trust fund and mommy's failed dreams being shoved down their throats because she couldn't live it
On behalf of my brothers and sisters I'd like to formally declare that you blaming us for not being able to get an education is as pointless as the participation trophies you thrust upon us and then blamed us for not valuing hard work
We're not ruining anyone's businesses, we just don't spend our money frivolously like our college degree only cost 2,000 dollars
Am I getting petty, Sharon? Am I being a rude cashier Donny?
Maybe you should check your own sense of entitlement at the door before I change your wifi password and don't tell you
