How Many Sleeps?

How Many Sleeps?

A Poem by T.C. Banks

How many sleeps, Dad?

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps, Mom?

How many sleeps?

Until we start school, Dad

How many sleeps?

Until it gets cool, Mom

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps till treatment begins?

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps till my hair comes back in?

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps till I’m not sick again?

How many sleeps?

How many till I see my friends?

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps till my funeral?

How many sleeps?

Till you pick my casket?

How many sleeps?

How many sleeps until goodbye?

How many sleeps will you cry?

How many sleeps until I die?

How many sleeps?

Questions that will break a parent’s heart. Questions that in an ideal world should never be asked. Sickness and suffering of children and young people. A nightmare for all parents. Such sadness in these lines.
