Easter Time

Easter Time

A Poem by CRAIG A. THOMSON
"

A short nonsense poem based on a Sweet shop window display that caused me to question the fundamental christian teachings of the resurrection of Christ.

"

The shop front looked fantastic,

What a wonderful display,

It was all decked out for Easter,

But when is Easter day?

There were little baby chicklets,

And easter eggs and things,

And chocolate coated angels,

complete with fluffy wings.

There were plastic trees and plastic hills,

And a little plastic cave,

With a little plastic boulder,

Rolled over Jesus' grave.

The scene was quite realistic.

A minature delight,

Detailed to perfection,

And it lit up in the night!

Believers, and agnostics,

Travelled from afar

To marvel at the fine art work,

Designed by Irene Carr.

The resurrection. Proof to all,

That God, the great forgiver,

Sacrifised his only son,

So man might live for ever.

But I, for one, am sceptical,

The truth is far from clear,

Why does Easter day not fall

On the same date every year?
