“A Stroke”

By C. A. Thomson

 Pale face, trembling.

Fiery eyes bulging.

Hot flush, blood pressure rising.

Dizziness.

Slack jaw.

Then nothing!

Mind reeling, numb feeling.

I've had  a stroke, it would seem!

No embolism though.

Not a stroke of the cerebral kind,

but a stroke of luck!

“I’ve won the lottery!

and I’m told on good authority,

that in the fullness of time, my euphoria will heal.
