Light

Light

A Poem by Annie Nicole

There's a door.
I can see through the keyhole
there is a field filled with sunlight,
flowers growing, touching the blue sky.
People are smiling and laughing,
dancing, they seem so light and free.

while I'm draped in darkness
scared and fearful.
dust clouding my mind.
evil spirits clenched around my wrists and ankles.
They're laughing at me.
the sound of my own cries frightens them away,
leaving me alone where i have a chance to break away.

perhaps i can open the door,
with a key, that i hold deep inside.
I grasp the door knob and turn it gently.
light immediately touches the walls that i have kept myself drenched in for so long.

The people quickly make they're way over to me and take my hands,
leading me into the sun,
guiding me to where i have dreamt about for years.

If only I had the courage to open that door sooner,
to let these people in my life,
and to not be scared of the light.

A amazing and hopeful poem.
"The people quickly make they're way over to me and take my hands,
leading me into the sun,
guiding me to where i have dreamt about for years."
Locked and closed doors could be the places we need to go. Fear stopped and killed dreams. I liked the hopeful ending. Thank you Annie for sharing the excellent poetry.

This poems almost has a feeling of being trapped. Very well written although "they're laughing at me " should probably be connected.
